The Law of Attraction - I Focused and Found Healthy Restaurants

posted Monday, 10 August 2009
The Law of Attraction says that what you focus your attention on expands.  Our thoughts lead to our feelings, our feeling lead to our actions, and our actions lead to our results. What a great way for us to become aware of what we think about.

I have recently been thinking about the diversity of restaurants.  Restaurants have the reputation of serving larger portions than what you would ordinarily eat.  You often hear that if you want to lose weight, then you should not go out to eat.   Restaurants do not have to be avoided.  You often have to sort out the unhealthy choices, such as fried foods, or foods sauted in butter.

I live in Dallas, Texas where there's a huge number of restaurants.  I have been thinking about the selection of food choices.  Other than vegetarian restaurants, which you expect to be healthy, or at least, healthier - I was thinking about the average restaurant and how easy or hard it is to find healthy items on the menu.

And so the Law of Attraction came in.  Last week I was in three restaurants where I was very impressed with the ingredients that they use.  I will be writing about them this week.

I was very surprised when I saw the menu of this apparently health conscious Dallas Bakery-Cafe.  Looking at the delicious pastries, cookies, muffins, etc., you would not necessarily think that this restaurant would use organic ingredients.

Sixteen locations in Dallas are fortunate to have this delightful bakery and cafe called Panera.  Their menu is loaded with healthy ingredients, some of which are:
  • All-natural, antibiotic-free chicken
  • 96% fat-free ham and 99% fat-free turkey for sandwiches
  • All-natural sun-dried tomato pesto
  • low fat vegetarian black bean and low fat vegetarian garden vegetable soup
  • all-natural eggs
  • All-natural sausage
  • Strawberry granola parfait - made with organic, low-fat yogurt, whole grain oats
  • Reduced fat cream cheese
  • Iced green tea, organic apple juice, organic milk
The menu offers 0 grams artificial trans fats per serving.

This is a wonderful restaurant.  On the back of the menu they explain Operation Dough Nation:

"We believe that the universal spirit of bread is sharing.  That's why we're committed to ensuring that every purchase at Panera Bread feeds back into the community through the following programs.  With your help, we can make a world of difference."
  • A portion of cash donations made in our bakery-cafes may be matched and donated to local hunger relief and other charitable organizations.
  • Unsold bread is donated at the day's end to local hunger relief agencies.
  • We regularly donate our products and gift certificates to benefit a wide range of charitable organizations and causes.
When you buy our own food and make it at home, you have total control of what you are eating.  As you can see, with just this one restaurant, that you can still go out to eat without eating unhealthy food.  I am so happy that I found this restaurant, I have a feeling that I will be eating there often.
