Introducing December Wellness Coaching Winner

posted Friday, 4 December 2009

Ruth Flesher, winner of my December Wellness Coaching contest, was selected to win a free Wellness Coaching session with me.  The contest was to write in 50 words or less why you should be chosen to win this contest.

As the winner, Ruth won a free 45 minute coaching session with me, and an interview with me featured in this article.

Ruth's entry was:

"I am health conscious, but my habits do not always follow what I know healthy choices would be for me.  I am interested in a Wellness Coaching session to help keep me accountable.  I feel that being accountable is the key to my optimal health and wellness."

I chose Ruth because I like the fact that she is already health conscious and knows the benefits of being accountable for her health goals.  Being accountable is a major key in helping you obtain your goals.  I know that a Wellness Coaching session will be a great benefit to Ruth.

Ruth's Profile and Interview:

Age: 49

Occupation: Customer Service Coordinator

Marital status: Married

Favorite food: Seafood

Favorite TV show:  I don't watch a lot of TV.

Favorite color: Emerald green.

Place of Birth: El Paso, Texas

What makes you happy: The joy of God

What makes you sad: Losing the closeness with my daughters as grow older.  It is important to me to always have good communication.

What are you most grateful for in your life: I am so grateful for everything.  I am grateful for knowing God.

What is important to you about friendships: In a good friendship there is honesty and loyalty, being supportive, non judgmental or critical, being a good listener, and being there for each other during good times and bad times.

What are your best qualities: I'm a good listener and a good talker.

What are your best accomplishments: Raising my daughters.

What do you like to do in your free time: I like to read and spend time with my family.  It give me great satisfaction to encourage and help people.

What advise do you have for a teenager? Be true to yourself.  If you are true in mind, body and soul, you will not involve yourself in drugs and promiscuity, you will not allow others to influence you.  You must always respect yourself, set goals for your future, and don't short change yourself by making the wrong choices that lead to consequences and be on the wrong path.  Have faith in God.  If you have faith and you love God and have trust in him, he will lead you to have a better life.  Love your neighbor as you love yourself.  That all comes to respecting others and being kind and thoughtful and helping them by lending a helping hand, simple acts of kindness. Be involved with charity.

What about your life do you cherish:  That I have the wisdom to instill good values in my daughters.

What will you always remember about your family: I have great memories watching my daughters grow up, going through all the stages.  I cherish my memories, such as when my daughter Liza was four years old.  She wore her little jeans with her hair in a bop with dirt in her knees, eating candy.  She was a happy child.  My husband and I enjoy remembering past events.

I will always remember my stepmother giving to the poor in Mexico.  On many weekends we would give clothes to the children in Mexico.  I admire that about my stepmother.  She was a great cook.  There were people always staying at her house who did not have a place to stay.

What about your life do you regret:  My first marriage, which did not work out.

Are you health conscious: Yes

Do you like to go shopping:  Not really.  I like to go and buy what I need, not just walking around the mall.

Do you like to travel, and if so, where? Yes, I like to travel.  I fell in love with New Zealand when I was there.  I'd like to travel to Scotland, Japan, India, and Russia.

If money were not an object, what would you like to do: Charity work.  I would  do charity work in India and Russia, build an orphanage for girls in India and Russia for the unwanted children.

Who would guest be at your fantasy dinner party:  Mother Teresa, Lady Roosevelt, Mary Magdelan, Joan of Arc, Queen Elizabeth the 1st, Abraham Lincoln, Elijah, Daniel, Moses, Einstein, and Ann Frank.

Who do you admire the most: Women who have the capabilities of doing for others, who give of their time and work with charities. I admire those who have their jobs and families and still find the time to give to others.

What goals and aspirations do you have: Giving my daughters proper guidance, being there for them in every aspect of their lives.  I want to do charity work, and help third world countries.  I want to have the time to give of my time.

Thank you Ruth, for that great interview!
