Frank Sinatra Talks About Losing His Friend To Lung Cancer

posted Tuesday, 1 July 2008

Remember Frank Sinatra who was the first modern pop superstar who began his career in the swing era?  Some of his well known songs are "Strangers in the  Night", "My Way", "New York, New York", and "That's Life."  What a great American singer and actor!  He lived from 12-12-1915 to 5-14-1998.

Frank Sinatra was a member of the Rat Pack along with Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford and Shirley MacLaine.  A lot of you reading this might be too young to remember any of these superstars.  I was just thinking about that today when I was in Whole Foods, the grocery store where I do most of my shopping.  They just put out a rack with some CD's on the side of the check out lane.  The checker and I were talking about it and I said I haven't kept up with the current music out today.  I picked up a CD and it was Frank Sinatra.  His music is timeless.

I also was just reading an article that Bill Freeze of Provo, Utah wrote of an experience he had once meeting Frank Sinatra.  He wrote "I was eating dinner at The Palm in Los Angeles in 1991.  While I was using the restroom, the door swung open and Frank Sinatra walked in.  We both went over to the sink to wash, and I said, "Mr. Sinatra, I wanted you to know that my parents are big fans and saw you in Las Vegas."  He said, "I appreciate that.  Where do they live?"  I said, "My mother lives in Indiana, and my father died a couple years ago of lung cancer."  He said, "Did he smoke?"  I said, "Yes."  He said, "Damn smokes.  That's what got Sammy."  As we walked out, he asked, "What's your name?"  I told him, and he said, "Give your mother my condolences."

I went back to my table and told everyone I met Frank Sinatra in the men's room.  They laughed and said, "Yeah, sure."  Then, a large group of people and Frank started walking from the rear of the restaurant, and people were clapping.  Frank then looked right at me and said, "Bill, it was a pleasure meeting you, too.  If your mom ever needs anything, you call me."  Then this guy next to Frank handed me Frank's card, and the whole entourage moved on.  After the shock wore off, we finished off a great dinner.  Finally, when we got ready to go, I asked for the bill, and our waiter said, "Mr. Sinatra took care of all that."  We floated out of the Palm."

Bill Freeze, just a regular guy from Utah lost his father of lung cancer.  Sammy Davis, Jr., a great American entertainer, dancer, singer, multi-instrumentalist (vibraphone, trumpet and drums),  impressionist, comedian, and Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor died of complications from throat cancer.  He was well known for the hit "Candy Man."  He lived from 12-8-1925 to 5-16-1990.

It's natural to die from old age.  But to die early from smoking, to suffer from lung and throat cancer is such an unneccessary tragedy.  To die from any lifestyle disease is an unneccessary tragedy.

That's why I am constantly talking about preventative healthcare.  It just does not work thinking that nothing will ever happen to you.  The days are over when you just can think of the immediate gratification and not look at the long term consequences.

Smoking is just one of the many bad habits that may cause one of the lifestyle diseases.  And I can tell you that it is not worth it.  Stop a minute to think of who else it is affecting besides yourself.  Think of who would be left to go on without you if you died.

I happend to have grown up watching Sammy Davis, Jr.  I loved him.  It is such a shame that he ever picked up a cigarette in the first place.  The entire world missed out on many more years of his tremendous entertainment.

In every article that I write I always talk about the Amazon Herb products.  I do this to let people know that they are the best products to take for preventive health, they are the best products to take if something is wrong with you.  We need to do everything we can to stay healthy and I believe in these products 100%.  They are the purest and natural rainforest botanicals.

Take a look at these products at www.magicoftherainforest.amazonherb.net.  Order them directly on the website or email me at bleynor@gmail.com or leave a message for me at my office at 972-618-3446.

Next time you out buying CD's pick up one of Frank Sinarta or of Sammy Davis, Jr. and listen to gome great music.
