Celebrate Steve Irwin Day November 15
For those of you who live in Australia or are traveling to Australia, don't miss the first Steve Irwin Day Celebration on November 15th at Australia Zoo. The event is dedicated to celebrate the life, and continue the conservation work, of the late Crocodile Hunter.
Steve Irwin spent his life spreading the message of wildlife conservation. He said, "Wildlife, habitat and people all depend on each other - a healthy environment requires an investment in humanity and the support of a caring global community. This is what nature intended". This belief in the interconnection of all things led Steve and his wife Terri to found the Wildlife Worldwide in 2002. When Steve died in September of 2006, Wildlife Warriors rededicated itself to continuing Steve's work.
Steve Irwin Day is a way for people all over the world to share in Steve's legacy. In addition to the main celebration at Australia Zoo, mini-events will take place around the globe. Everyone is encouraged to wear Steve's trademark khaki November 15th and many will be participating in Backyard Campouts to bring awareness, and raise money, to continue the work of Wildlife Warriors Worldwide.
For those fortunate to be at Australia Zoo, the day will be jam-packed full of activities that encompass all the things that Steve loved such as camping, surfing and of course animals! You can take part in DIY classes to make your own bird boxes and possum boxes. Bindi Irwin, Jimmy Barnes and Olivia Newton-John will be performing live.
